CFO meeting with analysts Sony Hiroki Totoki said the PlayStation 5 shortage will continue into next year.
“Doubt demand for the console will decline this year. Even if we manage to increase circulation next year, it is likely that demand will exceed supply.“.
Earlier in the quarterly report, Totoki noted that in the “short term” the market situation is not expected to improve – the console will be in short supply.
The company did not rule out that they might make some technical changes in an attempt to increase the circulation. According to media reports, PS5 production on a more efficient 6-nanometer chip may start next year.
Despite the shortage, PS5 sales outperform PS4 over the same period – not significantly yet, but Sony intends to widen the gap in favor of the new system. While the PlayStation 5 remains the fastest selling console in history.
