Future CD Projekt RED inextricably linked with franchises Cyberpunk 2077 and The witcher, announced the CEO CD Projekt Adam Kiczynski at a meeting with investors last Tuesday. From 2023, the studio plans to develop several large projects at once in parallel… However, the production strategy will change and expand.
CD Projekt RED will continue to release single-player games, but almost all of them will now receive multiplayer modes and online components – immediately or after release… The new approach is part of an initiative to expand key brands into new formats.

For example, if the studio previously focused exclusively on the RPG genre, now it wants to create genre hybrids with an RPG base. Recall that Cyberpunk 2077 in the pre-release promotional materials was already called not a “role-playing game”, but an “adventure thriller”.
The universes of The Witcher and Cyberpunk 2077 will develop in parallel, while thinking not only about AAA games, but also supporting projects that can potentially strengthen brands (for example, a mobile game The Witcher: Monster Slayer), as well as non-gaming products based on (toys, figures, gadgets, anime by type CYBERPUNK: EDGERUNNERS and so on).
In addition, an important part will be the reorganization of work in the studio, which in the future will allow less workload for employees and save them from tough rework. This initiative is called RED 2.0.
According to Adam Kicinski, the studio is now creating a technological structure that will allow the studio to conveniently integrate multiplayer components into its games. But CD Projekt RED has no plans to go online.
“CD Projekt RED makes single-player AAA story games – that doesn’t change. What is changing is our long-term approach to online. In the future, we must be well prepared to incorporate online elements into our games where it makes sense. in the process, we do not want to overdo it and get away from what we are loved for. “
This year, the studio will focus on improving Cyberpunk 2077 and releasing The Witcher 3 for the next generation of consoles.
