Domestic game studios from time to time try to release projects at the international level, but excellent graphics or an interesting plot often get stuck in the traditional swamp of weak design decisions and bugs. Company New game order presented a good story three years ago The Uncertain: Last Quiet Day about the decline of the era of mankind and the robot inventor Ar-ti, who tried to save the groups of surviving people. However, for the general public and the gaming press, the project went unnoticed, and this is not surprising. Today we will talk about a sequel called The Uncertain: Light at the End, where robots were replaced by people led by the girl Emily.
Like the tenth episode of the science fiction series The Uncertain: Light at the End, briefly introduces the players to the situation in the world through the meager text on the screensaver and offers to immediately plunder an abandoned pharmacy in order to help the members of the group of survivors who remained behind the scenes. Third-person movements, choice of possible interactions with the environment, and even meaningless dialogues are reminiscent of the recent Beyond a Steel Sky, but with the only difference that the main character from the back looks like a young Ellie from The last of us… Close up you will find catchy makeup and ugly animation that destroy the magic of the Great Russian homage.
The borrowing does not end there – the authors hide references to the series in the game Halo, Cyberpunk 2077 and even Detroit: Become Human… And this is where the positive moments end … The story pulled out of the middle of the narrative is unfinished and breaks off mid-sentence, the dialogues are carried by Stalker fanfiction, and a huge number of questions arise about the motivation and behavior of the characters.
Boring walking around the location and searching for key items is replaced by stealth sections, where you need to hide between the shelves from the laser protection system or follow the patrol robots. There is no joy or satisfaction from these gaming segments. Rare choices with QTE allow you to save this or that character, but the heroes are so enraged that feelings of affection do not arise.
Some of the travel segments are empty and protracted, and some even cause bewilderment. The main character’s dreams with hints of a hidden meaning do not develop in any way, the character with a wounded hand moves the boxes briskly, but refuses to help with the little things later in the plot … And this is not to mention the obligatory side quests with the repair of the shower or the creaky cradle. For completing the first, the naked heroine does not even get the opportunity to wash herself easily. Developers, remember: no sex, no sales. At least with a leg from a chair or an android disappointed in the destruction of humanity …
But most of all, The Uncertain: Light at the End is destroying the world not even with poorly written dialogues or an insufficiently developed plot, but numerous bugs. The controls on the controller are made for people with confused hemispheres, some of the puzzles simply have an unsuccessful illumination of the selected button or section, and subtitles partially appear before the event occurred. Moreover, characters lost during the campaign can appear in cutscenes, while other heroes in front of them cynically regret their absence. At the same time, The Uncertain: Light at the End boasts a good elaboration of the environment, attention to unimportant little things, lighting effects, as well as pleasant models of the main character and robots. But this is clearly not enough for a modern game.
