The impending closure of Battleborn was announced in November 2019. Then the developers removed the game from all digital platforms and removed the option to purchase premium virtual currency. Updates for the project were stopped even earlier, at the end of 2017.
2K previously announced that the Battleborn servers would be deactivated on January 25th, but in early 2023, the company revised its announcement, giving the few remaining fans one more week to say goodbye to the game.
