A 38-year-old local resident contacted the police in the American state of Utah, who said that instead of paid on the marketplace eBay console Playstation 5 he received a concrete brick in a branded box.
The scammers’ ploy cost the deceived buyer 878 dollars (near 65 thousand rubles), while the MSRP for the console is $ 499. However, due to the lack of systems, many have to turn to speculators who sell the PlayStation 5 at greatly inflated prices.
The buyer who suffered in this situation was only advised by the police to file a complaint with eBay support. Law enforcement also reminded that when buying something you should always pay attention to the seller’s rating.
Representatives of the eBay marketplace itself claim that they are actively fighting scammers by removing their ads. For example, in November, they began cleaning up sections of the store where unscrupulous users were selling PlayStation 5 photos for the price of a console. In the description it really was written that we are talking about a photo, but many did not read them or read them poorly – the desire to get a new prefix as soon as possible is so great.
