Amazon game studios announced the postponement of the release of the long-suffering IMO in the spring of 2023 New world. The decision was allegedly made based on player feedback.
The release of the project was supposed to take place in the spring of 2023, however, it was recently announced that only the beta test will start on August 25. In addition, the advertising campaign of the game failed miserably.
Amazon is generally in an unenviable position. Despite the huge funding, the studio has already managed to fail the launch of a competitive action Crucible. Deciding that in a pandemic, they will be able to attract more gamers, the developers forced the release of the unfinished semi-finished product, which caused the opposite effect.
Due to numerous problems and the lack of an advertising campaign, many simply ignored Crucible or even still do not know about its existence. As a result, Amazon was forced to roll back the project to the CBT stage.
A similar situation is happening with New World. The game received extremely slurred ads. In addition, even before the release, IMO was at the center of the scandal. The developers managed to set themselves up against gamers by announcing a cutback on the PvP mechanic to combat “toxic behavior.” At the same time, the head of the project, Patrick Gilmore, once declared that New World was originally honed under PvP, and players took the change in course as a betrayal.
The developers ’eloquently speaks of the fact that the likes / dislikes counter is disabled on the official YouTube channel MMO.
