World of Warcraft has already seven additions, and keeping track of the development of the universe is quite difficult. However, even if you played all the add-ons, you could have missed out on many of the plot events that Blizzard described in books. It is in them that metamorphoses often occur in the characters of the heroes, explaining their further actions. About why there was no compassion in Sylvanas, which is why Anduin is so angry at Wrathion and how the peaceful meeting between the people and the Forsaken took place, in Cybersport.ru.
Nuremberg trial on the expanses of Azeroth
At the end of the Mists of Pandaria expansion, the heroes of Azeroth overthrew Garrosh. Thrall wanted to kill the tyrant immediately, but he was stopped by Varian Wrynn, offering to arrange an honest trial, which was to be held in Pandaria. However, already in the next expansion, the player again had to fight Garrosh – in an alternative Draenor. How Garrosh migrated from prison to another dimension is described in the novel War Crimes.
The fate of Garrosh was decided at this trial, which lasted several days and resembled the Nuremberg trials. Tyrande acted as the prosecutor, but there were no applicants for the role of a lawyer. Vol’jin transferred this responsibility to Bane, whose father was killed by Garrosh. The leader of the tauren, despite his doubts, nevertheless agreed and really defended the ousted tyrant by all means. The verdict should have been made by the deities of Pandaria.
Both parties took turns calling witnesses, but in addition to their testimonies, visions from the past were shown to the court. Tyrande cited evidence of all crimes against Garrosha, from kidnapping to targeted genocide. The distraught orc did not disdain any methods to achieve greater power and promoted the ideas of hard nationalism. Garrosh took up arms against both the Alliance and all other Horde nations, except for the Orcs. He even established a kind of racial segregation in Orgrimmar, sending the trolls to the slums.
However, at what point Garrosh broke and went crazy, we never knew. Bane showed a scene from the past when Thrall offered Garrosh to become a leader, and the latter repeatedly refused, saying that he was not ready for politics and management. At that moment, he had no craving for power; he simply wanted to serve the Horde on the battlefield. Garrosh was afraid of this responsibility and worried that he would not live up to his hopes.
In the cinematics of the latest patch to complement Battle for Azeroth, Wrathion came to the aid of the heroes in the fight against N’Zoth, the only representative of the black dragons who were not affected by the madness. Entering the throne room of Stormwind, he first received a slap in the face from Anduin. The friendly relations between Wrathion and the king (at that time the prince) of the Alliance began precisely in the time of Pandaria. Anduin, despite the protests of his father and Jaina, spent almost all his free time with the dragon.
“When I get older, I can seat you on my back – but only on condition that you politely ask about it. We’ll go to amazing places and find adventures from which your father will age a dozen years over night. ”
However, all these plans were not destined to come true. Wrathion led a double game – in addition to walking with the prince and talking about the beautiful, he participated in the plan to free Garrosh. The black dragon knew that soon Azeroth would face forces that it could not fight back. Realizing that counting on the warring Alliance and the Horde was pointless, he relied on Garrosh and freed him. However, as we know, the dragon plan did not work, and instead of defending Azeroth, Garrosh again became a problem for the heroes, the elimination of which required the addition of Warlords of Draenor.
After all the testimonies were heard and the judges were preparing to announce their decision, Garrosh fled. True, before this, the orc gave an arrogant speech in which he ridiculed those present, saying that the only thing he regrets was “that he did not manage to destroy another hundred Theramors and kill even more enemies.” Despite all this, local deities still wanted to justify Garrosh, guided by the fact that everyone was able to change. As we found out in Warlords of Draenor, they were wrong.
“Garrosh Hellscream will live and continue to study. Love, wisdom, courage, strength and hope cannot be learned after death. Life does not boil down to punishments and rewards. We must understand who we are at the moment and accept ourselves. This is the only way to realize what and how to change ”.
The day Sylvanas killed humanity in herself
After Arthas turned Sylvanas into a banshee, we were always shown her as a cold and prudent warrior, driven by a sense of revenge. The dark lady completely disowned her past life. However, at some point, Sylvanas could have changed thanks to her sister Verice. This happened just during the trial of Garrosh. Both sisters Windrunners fiercely hated the ousted leader: Sylvanas – for contempt for his people, and Veris – for the death of her husband who died in Theramore. They did not trust the pandaren court, believing that the pacifism of the celestials would lead to an acquittal. Therefore, the Windrunner sisters took everything into their own hands and decided to poison Garrosh.
Meeting on the ruins of their homeland, destroyed by the Scourge, they increasingly indulged in memories. In Sylvanas, longing for her family and those times when she was still alive woke up. The common enemy brought the sisters together – the dark lady did not want to part with Verisa, and therefore invited her to become allies and rule the Undercity together. Sylvanas was ready to spit on the opinion of the Horde and her own people, so that at last a close person would appear next to her.
“For the first time since Arthas attacked her people, leaving as a reminder a disgusting scar called the Path of the Dead, Sylvanas was … happy.”
Verisa, having lost her husband and drowning in hatred and despair, was ready to abandon her previous life and two sons, to be with the one who also experienced this pain. On the last day of the trial, she poisoned food destined for Garrosh, but shown during a hearing about the death of her husband defending Theramore, put the Elf off balance. Faced with Anduin during the break, Verisa remembered her children and … changed her mind. She told the prince of Stormwind about the poison and foiled the attempt on Garrosh.
For Sylvanas, this betrayal of her sister was a real tragedy. The Banshee Queen cried for the last time in her life, after which cold hatred came to the place of pain. Sylvanas hated herself for her weakness and vowed to permanently expel everything human from her soul.
“The pain she experienced as soon as she naively hoped she could change something, learn to feel and love again, was a warning. There was no longer any place in her soul for hope, love, trust, and joy. These feelings are for the living, for the weak. ”
The first and last peaceful meeting of the people and the Forsaken
The consequences of the changes in Sylvanas’s soul were especially pronounced in the novel Before the Storm, which appeared before the Battle for Azeroth expansion. If the dark lady finally broke with the past, then many of her subjects retained the feelings and memories of their families. In the Undercity, the “Council of the Left” was formed – a kind of self-government body that was responsible for the city in the absence of Sylvanas. At that moment, a servant of Anduin died in Stormwind, who served three generations of the Wrynns and raised the current king. His last desire was to see in heaven with his wife, who died during the attack of Arthas and the Scourge on Lordaeron. Impressed by these dying words of his friend, Anduin decided to arrange a meeting between the people and the Forsaken in order to restore the destroyed families. The prince of Stormwind entered into a correspondence with the “Council of the Abandoned,” led by the wife of the deceased servant.
This idea was not liked by the representatives of the Alliance, who considered the Forsaken as brainless monsters, and Sylvanas, who did not want to get closer to people. However, the dark lady could not find a formal reason for the refusal, since she did not want to lose the trust of her people.
Sylvanas remembered the betrayal of Verisa, who abandoned her sister. The banshee queen expected similar from other people. At heart, Sylvanas hoped that the living would not accept the Forsaken, and those, broken and disappointed, would return to her and forget about their pacifist moods.
“I agreed to this meeting with reluctance, but probably all for the better. Now my Forsaken will begin to understand how they are perceived even by those who once claimed to love them. ”
The meeting took place in the Arathi Highlands, both sides promised not to attack representatives of the opposing faction. No one was ready for war at that moment, so both Sylvanas and Anduin planned to keep their word. However, the meeting of the people and the Forsaken did not go according to the plan of the dark mistress. The order was monitored by priests, among whom was Kalia Menethil – the sister of Arthas. This meeting was special for her, because the inhabitants of Lordaeron are her people. Some people were really unable to accept their changed relatives, but most stepped over and were sincerely glad for the Forsaken.
The meeting was limited in time, but Kalia invited the reunited families not to leave and flee to the Alliance fortress. Many decided on this, but Sylvanas managed to destroy every Forsaken who was on the field – even those who were heading in her direction. The Banshee Queen also killed Kaliya Menethil, who was not part of the Alliance. Sylvanas did not break the word – none of the people were hurt, so Anduin could only look helplessly at how his dreams of uniting peoples were crumbling. Sylvanas’s deed even struck Nathanos, her most faithful and cruel subject.
“- My queen … what are you doing?
“The only thing I can do in order to keep the kingdom as it is.” They tried to desert.
“But some fled here, to us, behind the wall.”
“Yes, but why?” Is it not out of fear alone? What did they want, what temptations succumbed to this? No, Nathanos. I can’t risk it. Of the members of the Council of Abandoned, I trust only those who have returned to me before – despondent, heartbroken. Truly “Abandoned”. As for everyone else … I cannot allow this feeling, this hope to gain strength. This is an infection, ready to break free and embrace everyone around, and it needs to be stopped. ”
This incident did not formally cause war, but made its approach inevitable. At the same time, the people and the Forsaken lost hope of reunion.
Illidan becomes a warrior of light
The Illidan novel describes the events of The Burning Crusade, but only on behalf of the antagonist. While the Alliance and the Horde mastered Outland, simultaneously cracking down on Illidan’s allies, the demon hunter himself was looking for an opportunity to destroy the Legion from the inside, penetrating his world. On one of these journeys, he met the ancient deity of the world – the naaru. It saved Illidan from Kil’jaeden’s gaze and showed the future to the demon hunter.
The day before the Dark Temple fell under the onslaught of heroes, the Naaru revealed its purpose to Illidan. He must save Azeroth by uniting all the defenders and deal with evil greater than Sargeras or Kil’jaeden. This gives fans hope that the demon hunter will return, as in the prophecy he confronts the Abyss.
In a naaru vision, Illidan saw a winged warrior smashing enemies with the power of light. He led the army, whose soldiers looked with reverence and admiration at their leader. Illidan could not even immediately recognize himself in him.
“And this winged warrior flew over the battlefield, challenging the gigantic creatures of darkness, the creatures of evil from the Abyss. His halo overshadowed his head, and his body shone brighter – brighter than the sun itself. Here, out of his hands, crushing the enemies, the rays of Light hit. ”
Illidan did not cast aside the vision; faith in the atonement and light swept over him. Naaru predicted the demon hunter the fate of the hero, for which, however, had to pay.
“There was not a shadow of doubt in the naaru’s voice, his confidence passed to Illidan. For a moment he plunged into the Light, and his heart calmed down. Atonement awaited him, for which he did not dare to hope. Pacified, he connected with the Naaru – just for a moment, which seemed to Illidan a lifetime. “
The next day, Illidan was defeated – all the allies were either dead or betrayed their leader. All his plans to fight the demons were destroyed. The heroes who defeated Illidan were sure that they had finished with the main enemy, but the full-scale invasion of the Legion a few years later put everything in its place. Before rushing into the last battle, Illidan saved his illidari by opening a portal to another world. In Legion, the demon hunters became allies of Azeroth, and Stormrage became the main savior of the world. In this supplement, Illidan again met with the Naaru – the deity reminded him of destiny and redemption, after which he tried to forcibly put on the path of the Light. The demon hunter did not like this prospect, and he destroyed the naaru.
