Former reporter Kotaku (soon he will work at Bloomberg News) Jason schreier, published an article in the New York Times discussing the impact of the coronavirus pandemic on the gaming industry. In particular, he noted that some studios have problems adapting to remote work and thus completing the development of large projects.
Many aspects of their activities had to be redone and rethought, including testing. Some had to be canceled altogether – motion capture, voice recording, and others.
Schreyer also noted in an article that autumn releases of games such as Call of Duty and Madden will not be carried forward. A little later, a journalist confirmed on Twitter that Call of Duty 2023 is still scheduled for release in the fall, although the situation may change at any time.
“Now the game is scheduled for fall, but no one knows what will happen in the coming months!”
Schreier heard that the new game will either belong to the Black Ops universe, or be somehow related to it, but will not rebooting the series. Journalist also confirmed TheGamingRevolution blogger, previously arguingThat next game will get the subtitle “Vietnam.”
“I am not a fan of CoD, so I don’t know anything about everything that happens in the lore or what really distinguishes Black Ops games, but I heard one subheading a couple of times – this is COD: Vietnam. But as far as I know, it is part of the Black Ops series? Not sure”.
Among other things, in his article for The New York Times, Shreira mentionedthat many autumn releases, which are not delayed until next year, may cut back. The developers will try to do without carry-over and earn in 2023, putting under the knife some mechanics, side levels and quests. All of this can also affect CoD: Vietnam, if it is still released at the end of 2023.
