April will be a month of nostalgia and innovation at the same time. Remakes of the cult Resident Evil 3 and Final Fantasy VII, as well as Predator: Hunting Grounds, a game as if copied from the very first “Predator” with Schwarzenegger, will go on sale. Other intriguing titles will come along with them – Gears Tactics and Minecraft: Dungeons. The first is a XCOM-style tactical game based on the Gears of War franchise, and the second is Diablo in the Minecraft setting. We talk about these and other releases of the month.
Resident evil 3 remake
Rethinking the third part follows in the footsteps of Resident Evil 2 Remake. And so carefully and accurately that the games can be easily confused if you remove the main characters from the screens and leave only zombies. But the devil is hidden in the details.
Resident Evil 3 Remake is much larger than the second part. Locations expanded, more enemies, more rounds of ammunition. The degree of action has increased by an order of magnitude: now instead of two or three dull zombies on the screen, you can immediately see five, or even six, and even Nemesis in addition. But the game did not get worse because of this, as happened with Resident Evil 6.
Title still skillfully captures attention with its atmosphere. At the moment, this is the only new AAA horror on the market that does not fall for banal screamers. It scares the darkness, music and suspense. If you like to tickle your nerves (and Nemesis will take care of this), then mark the date on the calendar.
Included with the game is Resident Evil Resistance – another attempt by Capcom to transfer the franchise to multiplayer. This time, the four survivors must go through a series of obstacles and deal with all the monsters that the fifth participant sends the match. He will assume the role of observer and will watch the battle through cameras, and sometimes participate in it. Under his control may be, for example, Mr. X.
Resident Evil 3 Remake will be released April 3 on PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
Final Fantasy VII Remake
Final Fantasy VII has a terrible burden: it should not only respect the veterans of the series and make them cry from nostalgia, but also attract new fans to the franchise. And judging by my recent impressions of the demo, she will cope with both tasks with a bang.
Square Enix creates a remake according to Capcom’s legacy – the game is recognized from the very first screenshots, but it’s worth starting the passage, as the differences fall out literally in tons to the user – and at the same time look organic. For example, the combat system was completely redone: now the fights take place in real time, but the player can always press a tactical pause to give out commands or assess the situation.
Final Fantasy VII is capable of falling in love with almost anyone through graphics and music. The appearance of the game is impeccable: the animations are smooth and clear, the environment is drawn as if in a movie, and the textures seem to be in 2030 and play on the PS6. Well, the music … just listen.
It is expected that the remake will be not just big, but huge. Square Enix divided the game into several parts. How many of them are planned is unknown. The release of Final Fantasy VII Remake will be held on April 10 exclusively for the PlayStation 4.
Predator: Hunting Grounds
What is the last good Predator game you remember? The one that would make you feel like the killer that causes horror? Personally, only the 2010 Aliens vs Predator comes to my mind. But even in her the sensations from the game were not the same: there was not that excitement from the hunt, which we were shown in the “Predator” of 1987 with Schwarzenegger.
In Predator: Hunting Grounds, this excitement seems to be there. This is a third-person multiplayer action game, where five players participate in one match. Four act as marines and carry out tasks from the leadership, and the fifth becomes a Predator. His goal is understandable – to collect as many trophies from the battlefield as possible. At the same time, no one bothers the detachment to destroy the alien. According to the trailers, everything that happens is very similar to the very first film, which cannot but rejoice.
The standard match, apparently, will look like this: A predator rushes along the tops of trees and tracks other players using a proprietary thermal imager (even the sound is the same!) While they make their way to the military base and destroy the bots. When the killer hunts down the Marines, a mess will begin: someone is trying to kill the Predator, someone is headlong fulfilling a task, someone is shooting back from AI opponents. It looks fun, it remains to try it yourself.
It is noteworthy that the action will be customization. You can pick up different types of weapons, grenades and perks. The Predator has the same thing, but its arsenal is much more interesting. Here, there is a canonical gun with three lasers, and a spear, and even a throwing disc. You can also change the appearance of a monster, class and even gender.
Predator: Hunting Grounds will be released April 24 on the PC (Epic Games Store) and PS4. From March 27 to March 29, an open beta testing of the game will take place.
Gears tactics
Microsoft continues to turn Gears of War into a franchise that will be associated not only with sniping. Gears Tactics was announced at E3 2018 during the Microsoft conference. The game is a tactical turn-based strategy in the spirit of XCOM, and its plot will develop 12 years before the events of the original.
The narration will be associated with other titles in the series. For example, Gabe Diaz – the father of Kate, the main character of Gears 5, will become the key character. He and his squad will go on a crusade for a certain Ukon, leader of the Locusts – those same aliens who destroy the planet. The inherent cruelty of the series is also in place – you can tear the enemy into bloody fragments of a well-thrown grenade or cut into pieces with a chainsaw.
The gameplay in most aspects resembles XCOM. Heroes use active skills, may accidentally miss the enemy, or even kill on the spot with a well-aimed shot. All characters can be customized, and weapons can be fine-tuned. At the company “Lancer” you can change the barrel, sight, store and much more.
The developers promise that Gears Tactics will be great. A 40-hour story campaign is announced, as well as large-scale boss battles. The release is expected on April 28 on Steam and on the Xbox One. The game will immediately be available in the Xbox Game Pass service.
Minecraft: Dungeons
What happens if you connect Diablo and Minecraft? It will turn out Minecraft: Dungeons – isometric action-RPG with dungeons and the ability to join forces. In fact, all that the project got from the Mojang pixel masterpiece is its appearance. In all other respects, this is a completely different game.
From Diablo in Minecraft: Dungeons, judging by the trailers and recent beta tests, much more. Monsters can be destroyed with the help of ordinary blows or powerful skills, and the main character must be constantly changed into a more powerful outfit. Even the controls are similar: left-clicking on an area will cause the hero to step into it, and attack the enemy.
The game promises to implement a local cooperative for four users simultaneously. There will be regular multiplayer. The plot plot, judging by the description from the developers, is pretty banal: an ancient evil has awakened, and only the player can stop it.
The release of Minecraft Dungeons is expected on April 30 on PC, PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch.
Fallout 76: Wastelanders
After the release of Wastelanders, Fallout 76 should have a real rebirth. With his release, live characters will appear in the game world with whom you can chat and take quests from them. Although this runs counter to the original idea of Fallout 76, Bethesda has listened to fans.
The DLC will unfold a year after people leave Vault 76. People will begin to return to Virginia, who will be divided into two groups: ordinary settlers and raiders. The former try to exist peacefully, while the latter interfere with this. And only the player will decide which side he will join.
Wastelanders has a unique opportunity to cross out all the negative of the fans of the series and revive Fallout 76 – to make it more attractive to beginners, to fix failed ideas, to set the optimal path for future development.
The Wastelanders release is expected on April 14th. Fallout 76 is available on PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
Snowrunner
If you suddenly attacked the spring blues and you want to rest while riding on the rocks, then SnowRunner is your choice. In this off-road simulator, the user will have to overcome obstacles behind the wheel of a powerful car and perform various tasks.
The authors of the game note that they have done revolutionary work on physics. The engine will make snow, dirt and water seriously affect the handling of vehicles exactly as it happens in life.
The game will have an open world and three regions with different biomes. Snow-capped peaks of Alaska and marshes of Michigan are expected. In each area, the player will face unique tasks such as delivering goods. Fulfillment of each contract can change the map and affect the further passage – for example, in the area there will be a bridge connecting two cliffs.
SnowRunner is expected to release on April 28 on PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
