Apple is considering giving third-party applications more freedom on the iPhone and iPad. It is also planned to give access to other music services on the HomePod there.
Currently, by default, Safari and the Mail application are installed on mobile devices. Since the launch of the App Store in 2008, Apple has not allowed users to replace pre-installed applications with third-party ones. That is, when you click on the link, it opens in Safari.
Apple also discusses whether to allow users to install competing music services on HomePod speakers. So far, they can only be used via iPhone or iPad, relaying sound using AirPlay technology. However, it is possible that the company will take this step.
It is possible that more information about this will appear on WWDC 2023 this summer.
