HBO posted a trailer for the mini-series “Conspiracy against America”sponsored by the creator “Wiretaps” David Simon and screenwriter Ed Burns, who worked with Simon before.
The project is based on the 2004 eponymous story from the Laureate of the Pulitzer Prize of Philip Roth – its plot presents an alternative view of American history.
According to the plot, it was not Franklin Roosevelt who won the presidential election in 1940, but the isolationist and aviator Charles Lindbergh, who was gradually starting to incline the country towards the ideology of fascism. The story comes through the eyes of an ordinary working Jewish family living in New Jersey.
The main roles in the project are played by Winona Ryder (“Very Strange Things”), John Turturro (“One Night”), Zoe Kazan (“The Ballad of Buster Scruggs”) and others. Lindbergh’s part is played by Ben Cole (Destruction).
The eight-episode season kicks off on HBO March 16th.
