Crysis goes well on AMD Threadripper 3990X and without a gaming graphics card – review

In my time Crysis was considered an unofficial test layout for the PC. If the computer ran the game, it was considered powerful. Of course, this required a serious game assembly. But as it turned out, the 64-core processor released last week Ryzen Threadripper 3990X able to do without an external video card to run the shooter.

And although FPS drawdowns were observed in the process, it can still be summarized – the game went completely with software graphics rendering. Channel Specialist Testing Linus Tech Tips confirms this. In the video, the launch of the game is shown from about 9:30 a.m.

It is noted that Threadripper 3990X has artificial limitations added by the manufacturer so that the chip does not compete with server solutions Epyc. For example, it supports only 256 GB of RAM.

Another disadvantage is the cost of the processor. In the United States, it can be bought for $ 4,000 (almost 256.5 thousand rubles at the rate). The estimated price in Russia “will reach” up to 313 thousand.
