Designers who worked to upgrade the armies of the Scourge and the Burning Legion demons in Warcraft III: Reforged revealed details about the creation of new models. In the section “Conversations at the Anvil” on the studio’s official website, they explained why they not only expanded the number of polygons of some textures, but completely changed them.
The developers added a lot of details to the models, according to them, in order to “create a terrifying appearance” – the characters received such visual elements as bones, tortured flesh and funeral robes. The changes affected not only the main characters like Kel’Thuzad, Anub’arak and the lords of horror Tikhondriy, Mal’Ganis, Varimatras and Detroroka, but also the usual combat units – the Meat van, the Ice serpent, Necroarachnid and others.
The model of Arthas in the guise of a death knight was redrawn by the developers so as to “recreate his gloomy nature.” The artists decided to “replicate the damage that his cloak and armor accumulated while he brutally executed the innocent.” Earlier it also became known that Blizzard first made a female model of a death knight and added it to a remaster, you can read about it link.
Warcraft III: Reforged will be released on January 29, 2023 at 2:00 Moscow time. You can read our material on the beta test of the remaster. here.
