60 FPS at the expense of graphics – Spider-Man: Remastered for PS5 compared to the original game

Channel ElAnalistaDeBits compared the gameplay shown on Wednesday Marvel’s Spider-Man: Remastered for Playstation 5 with the original version of the game. Recall that the developers demonstrated the game in 60 FPS mode.

The following points were clarified:

  • The rendering distance in the remaster is higher, but at the same time there is a noticeably reduced number of pedestrians and cars, and the detail of some distant objects, especially trees, has become poorer. Perhaps this is due to the 60 FPS performance mode;
  • The color temperature of the picture has changed to a more gray;
  • In the scene with Dr. Otto Octavius, you can notice the improved quality of some textures, which can be clearly seen on the rug on the floor. Here, attention is drawn to the updated face model of Peter Parker, which has already been criticized;
  • The game will run with ray tracing as shown in one of the official screenshots, however the performance mode does not appear to include ray tracing effects. All reflections in the gameplay fragment look identical to the original;
  • Another controversial aspect of the PlayStation 5 version of the game is the missing shadows from some objects, such as the mug near the tablet in the scene with Octavius.
