2019 Steam Results: 95 million monthly active users – review

  • 95 million active users per month;
  • Nearly 21 billion simulated hours;
  • More successful new products and an increase in average earnings for the released game;
  • The most successful sale;
  • Steam Labs brought 2.7 billion impressions, 57 million views and 6.1 million additions to the wish list for more than 29 thousand games;
  • Thanks to innovations, users switched to separate pages with additional content more than 121 million times;
  • Some little-known games that were included in the monthly lists of “Best Steam New Products” observed an increase of 50% in the number of additions to the wish list;
  • Systems that help deal with “off-topic review attacks” identified 44 such cases;
  • The Steam chat mobile app has been downloaded over a million times (1/3 on iOS, 2/3 on Android). During the winter sale, more than 6.6 million stickers were sent and 1.1 million chat effects applied;
  • Steam Workshop has downloaded 4.3 million products;
  • Events and announcements have been shown to players more than 8 billion times. Of these, more than 5 billion are in the new library;
  • Offers to write or revise your review of the game led to an increase in the number of reviews from 17 thousand to 70 thousand reviews per day;
  • In November and December alone, 3.7 million players took advantage of Remote Play and 2.3 million took advantage of Remote Play Together;
  • The number of games supporting Steam Play for Linux has grown from 3,400 to 6,500.

2020 plans

  • Own analysis of data on games on Steam and the general state of the platform with the results through several blog entries;
  • More complete support for game soundtracks;
  • Steam Trust technology, or trust factor used in CS: GO, will be available to all developers;
  • Plans for the development of the Steam Internet Cafe program, which is used by more than 8000 sites, so that it operates in schools and libraries;
  • A few very secret experiments in the Steam Lab and plans to release some features in the public domain;
  • Version 2.0 will make SteamVR even more user friendly;
  • New sections of the store where users will see the most relevant content;
  • Updating the Steam mobile application will add more login methods and secure user accounts;
  • New ways to reward users for participating in sales;
  • Plans to improve Steam TV, chat, library, store, and other available features.
