With so many games on the market, we often get side-tracked and neglect those releases that we already spent dozens of hours in a few months ago. While we are on a new thing now, developers keep supporting their games and we often miss the awesome content that they have been working on. Sometimes this content is free, and sometimes you have to pay for it. Regardless, it just means more gaming content for your favourite games.
Some of these games on this list I have personally gone back to after a long time to visit this new content, or just give the game some of my time as it has been patched with new things. Here are 10 games I highly recommend you go back and play as soon as possible.
DOOM
DOOM was probably one of the best shooters released back in May last year. It was known for its killer single player mode, as well as its fast-paced multiplayer mode that was kind of on the fence of Quake. Well since its release the game had has a dozen new DLC drops and patches that have improved on the game’s overall experience.
The best thing about the recent update is that Bethesda made all the DLC in the game free. So whether or not you own the Season Pass, you now have access to all the multiplayer maps, demons and all the other great content in the game. If free Season Pass content is not reason enough to play a game again then I have no idea what is.
The Elder Scrolls Online: Morrowind
The main reason to go back to the Elder Scrolls Online you ask? Well, the latest expansion is reason enough. Morrowind is a fantastic new content pack for the already-massive online game. But it stands way above the past DLC packs that have released for the MMO. Morrowind takes you to Vvardenfell, the infamous island where Vivec City is still being built.
It is not the first time we have been to Vvardenfell, as you remember The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind took us there too, but the difference here is that these events take place 700 years before the PC game released in the nineties. The Elder Scrolls Online: Morrowind comes with a brand new class, weapons, skills, and a stunning new land to explore. More than enough reason to go back and visit Tamriel.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt
I constantly have this feeling to go back to The Witcher 3. Not because I did not play it, trust me I have over 200 hours in it, but due to the fact that the game is simply so big and the expansions added so much content to it that I have this fear that I missed out on something truly amazing somewhere.
The Witcher 3: Blood and Wine was one of the best pieces of DLC ever released in gaming, as it added a stunning new land to the game which is so different from anything we had explored in the past. Not to mention that the new DLC released with a patch that overhauled the HUD and added visual enhancements to the game too. Just makes sense to dive back into the game right?
Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Wildlands
Wildlands is a fantastic sandbox game that I spent dozens of hours playing with friends, but since then the DLC has been adding more and more content to the game which is better than ever. Fallen Ghosts and Narco Road have been fantastic additions to the game’s overall missions and gameplay, but wait there is more.
Ubisoft is currently working on a huge PvP mode for the game which will finally have players going at each other on stunning maps as they fight to the death. If you ask me, it is a much-needed content drop that will surely add some excitement to the game. Even if PvP is not your thing, the DLCs and updates should be more than enough to keep you busy.
Dark Souls 3
Ah, Dark Souls, one of my favourite series of all time, if not the only one that actually matters in my life. Dark Souls III saw the end of the trilogy, but that does not mean that you should stay away from it as it stands as one of the most iconic games in history. If you have played Dark Souls III and are craving more, then why not jump into the expansions.
Both The Ringed City and The Ashed of Ariandel offer a couple of hours of extra gameplay which will surely make Dark Souls fan happy. There are also new bosses if not the hardest boss in the series to try and take down. The challenge awaits and while you are at it maybe start a new playthrough fresh from the start and venture into the DLC that way. Just another reason to invest time into the game.
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
The Legend of Zelda is one of the best games on the Nintendo Switch and there is no doubt that it is a system seller. Now that many of you have probably beaten Calamity Ganon and brought back peace to the Hyrule Kingdom, you want more to do, right? Well luckily the latest DLC has been released for the game and it is awesome.
The Master Trials sees you enter a series of battles where your survival skills and combat ability will be put to the test. Link is transported to a distant location where he is stripped of his equipment and challenged in various areas to kill the enemies and make food and healing items with the surrounding resources. Think of it like the Hunger Games, but with Link alone and afraid.
Dying Light
Dying Light is quite an old game, but Techland has been dedicated to its cause by keeping us distracted while Dead Island 2 is missing somewhere. The last expansion for the game called The Following finally added a new land to explore and vehicles to mod and kill zombies with. While this is all fun and games, the studio just announced that they plan on releasing another 12 months of DLC for the game over the course of the year.
What does this mean for you? Well, as a Dying Light fan, it means that you can jump into the game and enjoy some zombie killing with new enemies, weapons, and it all being as epic as a zombie slaying game could get. Dying Light is most definitely one of the better zombie smashers on the market and the new content should be all the more reason to go back.
Horizon Zero Dawn
Those of you who have not finished Horizon Zero Dawn yet should be asking yourselves what in the world you are doing with yourself. At E3 this year Sony announced some new DLC coming to the game which will play as a sequel to the events that take place at the end of the game. This means one thing, you need to finish the game in order to know what in the world is going on.
If you have finished the game, then perhaps you want to head back to experience patch 1.30 which added a New Game + mode, and the new ultra hard difficulty. As if the game was not tough enough on the hardest difficulty before the patch.
Warframe
If you have missed the news then you would not have seen that Warframe is getting its biggest expansion to date. The developer revealed a while back that they will be releasing a brand new open world to explore with your Warframe. This is the first time that the game is going in an open world direction and so far it looks pretty good.
Before all this happens, however, you should think about going back and finishing the current content as much as you can in order to get as many resources to buy things and get new frames. I think it is important to look your best when the new content comes along right?
Just Cause 3
Let us not beat around the bush here. When Just Cause 3 was released it was plagued with bugs, poor loading times and terrible frame rate, but luckily that is all water under the bridge as patches and updates have fixed these issues. Now that the game is running like a dream, you should totally go back and play the game. I am not only saying this due to the fact that it is free on PS+ right now, but also because the DLC in the game is epic.
The DLC sees Rico head into the sky with an awesome new jetpack to take down the Sky Fortress. Then we have the land DLC which gives him a walker tank to destroy everything, and lastly, the sea DLC gets him a fancy boat that is armed to the core with weaponry. Each DLC pack has new missions and areas to explore and all revolves around these new awesome weapons and vehicles.
