Company CD Projekt was subjected to a hacker attack, as a result of which confidential data was stolen from its servers. She announced this in an appeal to users and partners, published on social networks.
“Yesterday we discovered that we were the victim of a targeted cyberattack. An unknown person gained unauthorized access to our internal network, collected certain data belonging to the CD Projekt group of companies, and demanded a ransom in a note that we are posting to the public,” the message says.
The hacker claims to have gained access to the full source code of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, Cyberpunk 2077, GWENT, and the “unreleased version of The Witcher 3”, as well as internal accounting, administrative, business and other documents.

The attacker threatened to lease the source codes of the games to the network and send the documents to journalists if he does not receive a ransom from CD Projekt within 48 hours… According to the hacker, the files contain information about CD Projekt’s working practices that could seriously damage the company’s reputation.
“Investors will be disappointed in CD Projekt, and the value of your shares will fall even lower,” the message says.
CD Projekt itself did not specify what exactly was stolen, but noted that it would not go into any negotiations with the attackers, even if it would lead to leaks. She also noted that the personal data of the players were not affected.
The process of recovering the stolen data is underway and the protection of the network infrastructure is being strengthened. CD Projekt has contacted law enforcement and experts to investigate.
Previously, hackers hit the company Capcomby stealing terabytes of data with the source codes of her games and internal documentation. The publisher’s plans for the near future were declassified.
