After a series of tightening the rules, removing videos and blocking entire channels, the guide Youtube decided to go for mitigation. The April changes allow channel monetization for those who were deprived of it.
Content creators were allowed to use harsh words and vulgar jokes. But with a condition: only censorship is allowed, and even then they must sound in the first 30 seconds of the video. Jokes about dating and relationships are only permissible in humorous videos on adult topics.
In addition, a number of provisions regarding content have been relaxed. In particular, you can now show fights with the police, drug use and other controversial topics. Again with caveats: this is acceptable in educational, documentary and news videos if the discussions are “objective”.
Details on which video clips can now qualify for monetization can be found in the updated rulebook.
