XPG Primer gaming mouse review

We recently talked about the keyboard XPG Summoner and mouse pad XPG BATTLEGROUND XL PRIME, and now it’s time to share my impressions of the mouse XPG Primer – a note about her closes the list of our publications about premium gaming devices of the division ADATA

The mouse comes in a handy red and black box – you can open it without unpacking to evaluate the exterior of the XPG Primer and see if you like it or not. The device is completed with a set of documentation and branded stickers of the brand.

XPG Primer has a familiar gamer “catchy” design. LED inserts run through the entire body of the device and are accentuated under the wheel. The body of the mouse combines three materials. The first and main one is rough cheap plastic, which cuts the hand at the ends of the mouse. It is not entirely clear why the manufacturer chose this particular material in such an expensive device, because it does not feel pleasant and convenient, but rather refers us to cheap Chinese crafts. The second material is the ribbed surface on both sides of the mouse. She is nice, has an interesting print, fingers do not slip. The third surface is just decorative – the red bottom of the mouse. It looks a little strange, cheap and lurid.

Nevertheless, despite the fact that the materials do not cause delight (when you take the mouse in your hand, it seems that it should cost half the price), the XPG Primer pleasantly surprises in its shape. The mouse fits into the hand like a glove, and the ribbed surface creates an interesting feeling of “grip”. In addition, it is very light, so the emotions from its use in conjunction with games and work programs are generally positive. The shape is very comfortable, the brush does not get tired.

The mouse has 20 million-click Omron switches. This is a very familiar solution to us, but here the switches are very loud. In addition, the sound of clicking the right and left keys is different, which is unusual at first.

In addition to the main keys, the XPG Primer received four additional keys. One controls the backlight, the second the amount of DPI, and the other two are customizable.

The wheel has a ribbed surface and scrolls easily with small tactile cuts.

Optical sensor with a maximum resolution of 12,000 DPI. We saw more – he was not surprised by anything. We didn’t manage to break it, which is good.

The cable is lightweight, densely braided. However, it would be much more interesting to see this mouse in a wireless version. It is completely incomprehensible why XPG does not offer this option in other models.

The XPG Primer feels like an overpriced model. Its cost starts at 4,590 rubles, and it is worth noting that in terms of the quality of materials and a set of functions, it loses a lot to competitors in terms of price / quality ratio. Cheap materials upset us, even though they were comfortable in shape. The design feels dated – after all, manufacturers are now striving for minimalism in the production of gaming devices. And this is strange, because the flagship XPG keyboard has much more interesting design solutions and better quality materials. On the other hand, if this product is sold at a discount of at least 30%, you can pay attention to it. The sensor, buttons and switches are of high quality – this is definitely a plus for the XPG Primer.
