Studio Firaxis games unexpectedly announced a spin-off of the second part of the tactics Xcom 2. The project will go on sale next week, or rather, the 24th. XCOM: Chimera Squad, this is the name of the branch, will be sold on Steam at a price 999 rubleshowever, until May 1, spin-offs will be available at half price.
A new chapter in the history of the XCOM world and turn-based battles will tell about the Chimera squad, which includes people and aliens.
“After many years under the fifth of aliens, mankind won freedom, but the Elders, leaving the Earth, threw their former soldiers on it. Now, five years after the events of XCOM 2, people and aliens are trying to get along peacefully and revive civilization. ”
Events will take place in City-31, a bastion of well-being and prosperity. Its inhabitants do not approve of cooperation between the rational races, so an assault group assembled from humans and aliens will have to work together to neutralize the threat to the city.
Among the features noted:
- 11 unique agents with their own character and a set of tactical abilities, including those inherent only to his race;
- various classes of characters that allow you to carry out dizzying combo attacks using joint actions available to certain fighters;
- a new look at tactical battles, where each mission is a series of separate skirmishes that make the battle furious and unpredictable;
- a new assault phase of the battle, allowing you to enter the squad into the battle at the right time and place the fighters before the battle;
- an automatic system of tracking moves, giving an idea of which of the enemies goes next and what are the risks for your fighters;
- the ability to manage the actions of the high-tech headquarters, distributing threats by importance and sending agents for investigations and covert operations.
XCOM: Chimera Squad so far announced exclusively for the PC. Whether it will be released on consoles in the future is still unknown.
