The original Xbox there was a fairly rich line of ~ 1000 games, but only about 200 of them are backward compatible with the Xbox 360, and only 40 are available on the Xbox One and Series X | S. Meanwhile, one of the creators of the first console Microsoft Seamus Blackley shared an idea that could save many classic titles from oblivion in the dustbin of history.
On February 3rd, Blackley tweeted an image of the famous X-shaped prototype of the first Xbox and asked the audience for their opinion on the release of a new console in this design, specifying that it could only run games from the 2001 release of hardware.
Blakely’s proposal was upbeat among fans that he now plans to submit the concept to the Xbox head. Phil Spencer…
Hey everybody- before I irritate Phil- I’m psyched people like this idea. I wanted to see if people were still psyched about our old design. I’m amazed by the response. Maybe this is possible. It’s hard, all this stuff. But sometimes it’s worth the pain. https://t.co/ZxLvxeVvWL

According to Blakely, such a console will be based on cloud technologies. Microsoft has a cloud gaming system xCloud, which is currently in beta testing, so the concept doesn’t go beyond what is possible.
That being said, two things make Blakely’s idea unique. First, the X-shaped console is a very literal interpretation of the name Xbox, and second, and most importantly, it could be the only modern system with access to the entire original Xbox catalog.
It’s not entirely clear if this was all a joke, or Blakely is serious, but it’s worth mentioning that earlier he did something similar with a controller Xbox duke for Xbox One which later really re-released.
