According to the executive producer of the game, John Hight, the very appearance of the classic version was driven by the demand that was in the community. By opening vanilla servers, the company continued to listen to what players wanted. And Burning Crusade was the answer to their expectations.

For Burning Crusade Classic, the content of the original expansion will be gradually released. It will be split into five phases, corresponding to the seasons of arena battles.
Players immediately after the release of the update will have to choose in which version of the worlds they will continue to play each of their characters. For some of them, it will be possible to take advantage of the limited opportunity to raise the level.
For those who want to go to Outland and continue the game in the classic version, there will be a paid service of cloning a character. The copy, regardless of the time of creation, will correspond to the state at the time of the launch of The Burning Crusade.
The update will soon appear on the test server, the exact date of its installation is not yet available.
