Many years players World of warcraft, mistaken when creating a character with his gender, were forced to contact the game store for a paid sex change service. But this will come to an end: Blizzard decided that putting obstacles to transgenderism is not consistent with the current public agenda.
In an interview with the publication Eurogamer World of Warcraft producer John Hight announces that after the add-on Shadowlands hairdressers will master the sex change operation, and they will remove it from the game store. The company believes that this will be a “more faithful” message to the players.
Not long ago, Blizzard released an explanation regarding one of the inhabitants of the Dark Lands, Pelagos. He is a vivid representative of the key feature of the Bastion: candidates for the role of the Kiry can themselves choose in what physical form they act.
In his earthly life, Pelagos was a woman, but after death he decided to choose a male hypostasis. Initially, the developers prescribed quests and dialogs with the appeal “they / them” to Pelagos, but the players called for respect for the desire of Pelagos to be perceived as a man.
It is worth noting that Russian localization escaped these reservations. In it, from the very beginning, Pelagos is spoken of as a masculine gender.
Another innovation regarding the game store: the next mount has been announced, which can be obtained by subscription. Those who subscribe for half a year until August 10 will receive a gift from the Steam Incinerator, a mechanical dragon that spews sparks.
