Japanese company Platinum games revealed the third announcement of its initiative Platinum 4. This is not a game, but a whole new studio – Platinum Games Tokyo. For the first time, we learned about the formation of this team from yesterday’s news about Project G.G. This morning, management talked more about the undertaking.
According to the CEO Kenichi Satothanks to financial investment from the Chinese giant Tencent, PlatinumGames was able to begin full-fledged work on Project G.G. and decided to open a second studio, which should help the company gain a foothold in the market.
One of the main tasks of the Tokyo office of PlatinumGames will be the development of service games for consoles.
“For a long time, the name of our company has been strongly associated with single-player action games. But moving forward, we want to try our hand at new genres and directions. One of the challenges for us is to develop service games for consoles. These are games that we will continue to work on. even after their release, providing them continued support with new content, “the report said.
The studio did not specify whether traditional single titles will be developed in the Tokyo office. It is also not specified whether Project G.G. game with service elements.
PlatinumGames Tokyo is currently recruiting employees – they want to expand the headquarters to 100 people (currently 15 specialists work there). The new team will collaborate with the main group PlatinumGames in Osaka.
