“We want to harness the power of creators across the industry” – Disney invites game developers to collaborate

Senior vice president Disney on games and interactive entertainment Sean Shoptau made a presentation at the summit DICE 2023 in Las Vegas, where he made an interesting statement: the company aims to attract more creative studios to develop games based on an extensive catalog of its IP.

“I’m here for one specific reason: to give you the opportunity to create truly unique things with our catalog. We want to harness the power of creators across the industry.”

Referring to Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order from Respawn entertainment and Marvel’s spider-man from Insomniac gamesShoptau emphasized the importance of the original plot and the “rethinking” of what Disney characters and settings can be. Now Disney is inviting developers to their home so that they can find interesting series.

In 2013, Disney entered into an exclusive contract with Electronic arts for the release of console games under the Star Wars franchise, in which special success was achieved with the aforementioned Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order.
