The Video Electronics Standards Association (VESA) has announced the addition of a new 600 cd / m² peak brightness level to its DisplayHDR True Black High Dynamic Range (HDR) standard.
DisplayHDR True Black 600 technology is optimized for OLED and MicroLED displays. It delivers 20% more brightness over DisplayHDR True Black 500, as well as deeper blacks and a dramatic increase in dynamic range.
Features of the standard:
- peak brightness 600 cd / m²;
- reduced permissible black level to 0.0005 cd / m² – this is the lowest level that can be effectively measured with standard colorimeters;
- Up to 50x wider dynamic range and 4x faster rise time compared to DisplayHDR 1000.
