  • Points are now assigned to teams.

If a player changes teams, will his points be credited to the squad he will move to?

  • No.

How many teams will receive points direct invites to The International 10?

  • The top twelve teams with the most points will receive direct invites to The International 10. The rest of the participants will be determined by regional qualifiers (one quota per region).

Will points earned play a role in inviting participants to regional qualifiers?

  • No. Any team in the Season 2 Regional League will be able to qualify for The International. This right will only work if the team has retained the core (changed no more than two players) compared to the previous season. Thus, there will be no open qualifiers for The International 10 in 2023, however, all regional leagues will carry such qualifications to their second divisions.

How many teams will make it to the Major?

  • From each regional league, at least two teams will advance to the Major. In some regions, there may be three or four.

Are there other ways to qualify for a Major?

  • No. You can only qualify for a Major by qualifying through a Regional League.

Can a team play with a stand-in?

  • Yes. During a regional league, a team must play with at least 4 out of 5 registered players (and this will not result in a penalty). Any team playing with a substitution in a Major will receive a penalty of 40% of the points earned in the tournament.

Can a team kick a player after qualifying for a Major?

  • Yes. However, the team that eliminates the player after receiving the Major quota will receive -20% of the points earned, in addition to the normal penalty.

In what format will the majors and regional leagues be held?

  • Information on Majors and Regional Leagues can be found here.

What happens if a team doesn’t play matches in a regional league?

  • A team is allowed to play with one substitution, unless that player plays for another team from the league of the same division or higher. If there are not enough players in the team for the match, then it will receive a forfeit defeat After the second technical defeat, the team is automatically eliminated from the remainder of the competition.

Can teams from the same organization compete in the same league?

  • Yes. However, as in previous years, only one team from one organization will be able to enter The International. If two teams from the same organization secure a place at The International at once, then the organization must sever all ties with one of them before the tournament starts. Otherwise, only the squad with the best result will have the right to participate in the tournament.

On the night of January 1, Valve announced the dates for the majors and regional leagues of the Dota Pro Circuit 2023. The season will consist of two majors and two regional tournaments, each of which will last six weeks.
