Valorant was released in June last year, but even before the release, the developers of the competitive shooter from Riot games reported that they would not be able to ensure the operation of voice chat on the territory of Russia due to “uncertainty in the regulatory environment.”
It is assumed that the reason was the so-called “Yarovaya law”, which obliges companies to store letters, files and recordings of calls from their customers for six months.
However, now producer from Riot Games Sarah Dadafshar toldthat the voice chat in Valorant has finally become available to players from Russia. Apparently, along with the release of patch 2.11. Riot Games previously announced that it will begin recording voice chat in Valorant to combat toxicity.
This month, the structure of Roskomnadzor proposed introducing regulation of the video game market in Russia. Among other things, it is proposed to extend the requirements of the Yarovaya Law to the industry in order to prevent potential security threats.
Valorant now has a monthly audience of 14 million, and Riot Games is working on a mobile game for the franchise.
