Recently company Riot gamesknown for creating a MOBA game League of Legends, introduced video, screenshots and details of his new f2p shooter Valorantwhich Western journalists immediately nicknamed the hybrid Overwatch and Counter-Strike: GO, and now the developers have opened the curtain on the issue of monetization of the upcoming project.
According to the portal Polygon, players will be able to purchase a combat pass, which can be used to level up your character. Executive Producer Valorant Anna Donlon She assured that there will be no lootboxes in the shooter, and cosmetics, including sprays and skins for weapons, can be purchased for real money right in the in-game store. She also said that skins for weapons can be upgraded, and in the game at the start “several different progress systems”.
One of the notable differences between Valorant and games like Overwatch is the lack of alternative character skins. Thus, developers do not want players to become more difficult to recognize. Despite the fact that such a development is not ruled out in the future, Donlon said the following:
“I believe that the skins for the characters should be such that they in no way affect the gameplay. It will not be easy, but I think that we will find a way to do this. We are interested in learning such things.”
The game will debut in the summer of 2023 on a PC. We are currently registering for a closed beta test.
