V-technology: Sony’s new patent revealed the cooling system of the PlayStation 5 devkit

The network has a new official patent Sony Interactive Entertainmentrelated to PlayStation 5 Devkit. The document describes and demonstrates in more detail the cooling system of the prototype non-x-ray console for developers..

According to the schematic diagrams of the devkit attached to the patent, six fans are installed at once in the device for effective cooling of internal components. They take cold air from the central V-shaped cutout in the body and remove heat through large openings on the sides and back. Three coolers are located on the left side and cool a large heatsink that covers the processor, and three more are located on the right side of the power supply.

It’s important to understand that in this case we are talking about a devkit, not a consumer version of the console, which is likely to get a different design and, accordingly, a different cooling system.

The launch of the PlayStation 5 is scheduled for the 2023 Christmas holidays.
