US largest cinema network could shut down forever due to coronavirus – review

Coronavirus pandemic continues to hit the film industry – due to quarantine AMC, one of the largest cinema chains in the United States, can permanently close the doors of its halls.

Not so long ago a company S&P Global lowered the credit rating of the network, noting that its “bankruptcy is inevitable”, and the chances of reopening are extremely small.

Despite the fact that the United States plans to start the business from April 30, some analysts believe that quarantine can last even longer, capturing the summer months. Doors of AMC cinemas in this case will not open until July or even later.

Even taking into account the number of AMC points in the country and the general popularity of the network, it was drowning in debt, and against the background of the epidemic, the situation only got worse. Over the past year, the network lost about $ 149 million. Company executives said they would cut their salaries and try to keep the network afloat for as long as possible.

The situation can be saved by finances from state funds, however, it is still not clear whether it will help.
