Epic Games released a 16-minute video about innovations and features Unreal Engine 5, at the end of which they announced the launch of the engine’s early access – it can already be downloaded from Epic Games Launcher.
In the presentation itself, attention was paid to several systems like Nanite and Lumin, which were talked about a year ago, but new ones were also presented – for example, World Partition… It is designed to build an open world.
For example, developers will be able to work on one location in parallel with each other, since the results will be synchronized with each other. In addition, we paid a lot of attention to animations and sound.
According to Epic, developers can easily port games from UE4 to UE5.
In addition, those who wish can try Valley of the ancient – Technodemo, which can be downloaded in the same Epic Games Launcher. It weighs about 100 GB, and to run you need at least:
- GTX 1080 or RX Vega 64 with 8GB VRAM and 32GB RAM
- For operation at 30 FPS, a 12-core processor at 3.4 GHz, 64 GB of RAM and an RTX 2080 or Radeon 5700 XT graphics card is recommended;
- The demo was also successfully launched on PS5 and Xbox Series X.
The full release of Unreal Engine 5 is expected next year, but close partners of Epic Games have already gained access to the current version of the engine.
