Ubisoft unveils Assassin’s Creed Valhalla new details and confirms the possibility of passing for a woman

Following the first teaser trailer Assassin’s creed valhalla the details of the upcoming game followed. Ubisoft confirmed that the next part of the famous series will be released on Christmas Day 2023 on the PS5, Xbox Series X, PS4, Xbox One, PC (in the Epic Games Store and Ubisoft Store) and Google Stadia.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla will take place in IX century Europe. Players will take control of the Viking Eivor, who since childhood had been preparing to become a fearless warrior. He will lead his clan from lifeless icy Norway to find a new home in the fertile lands of England.

The latter at that time consisted of many warring kingdoms. Lands where chaos reigns are waiting for a new ruler to conquer them.

Story

Ubisoft is aware that everyone knows the Vikings as conquerors. In history, they have earned a reputation as bloodthirsty invaders, interested in Britain only because of its wealth. However, in today’s trailer we see them as quiet, calm people spending time with their families at home.

Does this mean that we will only be allowed to play for the good guys? Not at all, but the developers tried to show that the Vikings were not only invaders, but also settlers. Yes, they were fierce warriors, but still a group of people with a rich culture, “living” gods and extensive mythology – all this one way or another will find a place in Valhalla.

Gameplay

The central place of the game will be the Viking settlement – this is a local hub. The village houses the houses of Eivor and his comrades. It also serves as a starting point for adventure and a place where players can see the consequences of decisions made.

Thus, the gameplay of Valhalla is different from the endless journeys of Origins and Odyssey, where it was necessary to clear a huge map in order to move forward. The story of the new game is built around your settlement, which will flourish and grow and where your clan comrades will live.

In a Viking village, all stories begin and end, and decisions made affect the growth of the community. It is here that players will enter into alliances, play weddings to establish relations between clans, as well as twist novels. As the village develops, new buildings for construction will appear, such as barracks, a forge and a tattoo parlor.

Locations

As for the UK, where most of the game actually takes place, this is where Avor will build a new home. You will not be able to play the role of the Viking without seeing Scandinavia, although Norway is only the place where the game begins.

“You have to understand where these people come from,” the developers explain. “You will feel the harsh climate and politics of the time. After that, you will understand why you need to move to England. “

Despite the fact that the UK will occupy the bulk of the game map, it will also appear “a few unexpected areas.”

“In fact, you can return to Norway at any time. And she is breathtaking. We have four kingdoms in the game: Wessex, Northumbria, East of England, Mercia. This is a fairly large part of England, ”the developers say.

the villain

In Britain, players will meet King Alfred, who is shown in the trailer as a villain who owns some Templar artifacts. However, Alfred will not be so simple.

The game’s campaign will cover the Viking campaign, which led him to flee and set fire to pies, and then talk about the rejection of the Norwegians and the unification of the countries of England.

“Alfred the Great is a very important historical figure, the creation of which we want to approach correctly,” the developers say.

Gender and settings

The trailer shows the male protagonist – Eivor, but the game can be played for a woman. You can choose the floor and adjust the appearance.

As in the case of Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, in some trailers the developers will show a male hero, in others – a female one. Marketing “will include both options.”

As for Eivor, you can choose which beards, tattoos and military coloring options he will wear. Equipment will also be fully customizable, like a boat. Double weapons and shields were returned to the game for battles with “much more diverse enemies than ever before.”

Mythology

The second character found in the trailer is a mysterious figure in the hood, which Avor somehow connects with Odin, because she hangs with the raven (the animal is usually associated with the main Norse god).

The previous part allowed players to meet with characters and creatures from legends, and it seems that Valhalla will continue what was started. The developers are trying to follow the mythology, which states that the gods were part of people’s daily lives. It was believed that they roamed the earth, participating in battles. In this regard, the game will correspond to the legends of that time.

Raven

The bird will replace the eagle from previous games. With the help of a raven, players will be able to explore the world in search of interesting content.

“We want to create a world that will reward players for their curiosity. This is because the Vikings are great explorers. ”

The user interface will be disabled in this case – players will have to find the treasures themselves.

Naval battles

You can explore the territory both by land and by water. There are no guns on the boats, because the Vikings simply didn’t. Instead, maneuvering ships serve as the fastest means of transportation in the English countryside. Also, boats allow you to instantly escape from the chase after an attack on a coastal fortress.

Sometimes during the research it will be possible to obtain resources, and then pick them up and deliver them to the settlement in order to improve it or increase firepower to defeat bandits of a higher rank.

Cooperative

Despite rumors, Ubisoft denies the presence of a multi-user component, although the game will include some interactivity.

“Valhalla is a single player game,” the developers say. “With some online components that encourage players to share their progress and creativity.”

Modernity

Ubisoft will continue the modern franchise arch. This means that we are waiting for more stories about the First Civilization and the third appearance of Leila. And modern stages will be completely playable.

Rest

  • The subheading “Valhalla” is somehow connected with the identity and purpose of Aivor.
  • The duration is 870th years of our era.
  • The protagonist distinguishes from the host of other franchise characters, for example, he has a very peculiar sense of humor.
  • The assassin’s blade will be given to players almost at the beginning of the game, but whether Ivor will become one, the big question.
  • The hero does not start the game as a boy, he is a rather experienced warrior, able to withstand enemies.
  • As one of the multiplayer component will be mercenaries created by other players. They can be sent to a friends session to receive awards, but they won’t be able to play for them.
  • Valhalla is clearly not going to be the last part of the series.
  • The trailer contains Odin himself.

Valhalla has been in development for over two and a half years. It is created by the Assassin’s Creed Origins team, led by Ashraf Ismail, the creative director of Black Flag. The leading studio is Ubisoft Montreal, it is assisted by another 14 companies around the world.

With the release of Valhalla, Assassin’s Creed will be the first to visit the PS5 and Xbox Series X and take full advantage of the new systems. Valhalla is to become Ubisoft’s flagship game for next-generation consoles.
