Square enix announced Life is Strange: True Colors – actually the third part of the series, in which they decided to abandon the figure in favor of the subtitle. It characterizes the novelty better.
The studio is responsible for the project Deck Ninewhich released four years ago Before the storm, a prequel to the first Life is Strange. Immediately after that, the team took on a completely new game in the universe, which tells its own story.
The release of the novelty will take place 10 September on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series, Xbox One, Stadia, and PC. Yes, the release of the full version of the project – no more episodes. The entire game will be available on release day. Division into chapters, “episodes”, while leaving.
Correction… Initially it was reported that True Colors will be released entirely in Russian, but now the information has changed – so far only a text translation is planned, however, dubbing may still appear for the release. The current cover is inconclusive.
True Colors took place in the small American city of Haven Springs, where the main character Alex arrives at the invitation of her brother Gabe. They have not seen each other for about 8 years. In the settlement, the girl is warmly received, but soon a tragedy happens – Gabe dies.
Some residents and friends of the deceased are sure that there was an accident, while others say the opposite. As a newcomer to this community, Alex finds herself embroiled in an investigation that results in skeletons in the closet for many.

The key themes of True Colors are emotion and empathy – Alex sees the feelings of other people, and when focusing, he can find out what causes them. If the emotion overwhelms a person, he is completely immersed in it, then Alex, if negligent, “becomes infected” and can lose control.

A key gameplay innovation, in addition to the ability to read emotions, will be the appearance of an almost open world – you can explore the town in search of characters, secrets, and even additional storylines quite freely.
Thanks to superpowers, you can influence people, and they, in turn, will influence the city. However, you should be careful – certain situations, dialogues and characters can only be accessed in a certain chapter. After that it will not be possible to return to them.
By the character’s aura, one can understand what kind of emotion is overwhelming him now.
Players will be able to have a romantic relationship with two characters – boyfriend Ryan or girlfriend Steph. Before the Storm fans are already familiar with the latter. She was a master at Dungeons and Dragons in the first episode.
Steph will also be dedicated to the upcoming Wavelengths expansion.
In addition, as the developers rely heavily on cinematography and real emotion, for the first time in Life is Strange, full motion capture and facial animation of actors is used.
Haven Springs turned out to be “tube”
Alex can be called a fashionista – there is room for 24 outfits in her wardrobe. Four of them, which are inspired by previous Life is Strange protagonists, will receive True Colors premium editions – extended and ultimatum.
The latter also includes remasters of the first part and Before the Storm, which at first can only be obtained by purchasing this version of the triquel. By the end of the year, they will be available for free sale.
Finally: the developers cannot “confirm or deny” the appearance of the game in the Xbox Game Pass on the day of release, and among the licensed music fans will be able to hear songs by Radiohead, Phoebe Bridgers, Gabrielle Aplin and others.
