Strategy A Total War Saga: Troy Creative Assembly Studios officially become temporary exclusive Epic Games Store and got a release date. In the said store release will take place August 13th, and on the first day after the release, all EGS users will be able to pick up the game completely free and forever.
On other platforms, such as Steam, Troy will appear only after a year, that is, not earlier than August 2023.
At the same time, Creative Assembly immediately warned fans that after A Total War Saga: Troy was not going to make its other games with exclusive Epic Games Store. The story with “Troy” is a one-time character.

According to Creative Assembly, the initiator of the transaction was Epic Games itself. The studio did not immediately agree to the proposal, having held a collective discussion within the team, but in the end it highlighted two positive things for itself. Firstly, this will allow developers to invest more in the further development of Total War and bring the series to a larger audience, and secondly, Epic Games has pledged to cover the free distribution of “Troy”, which, given the upcoming 20th anniversary, was too good an opportunity to miss her.

The developers added that they did not want to be limited to Steam alone, and the deal with Epic Games gave them an excellent opportunity to safely enter the new platform and evaluate its prospects. Summarizing all of the above, Creative Assembly noted that players may not immediately experience big changes, but they will definitely see them over time. Now, things are happening behind the scenes that without a partnership with Epic Games would simply not be possible. Some of them are long-term, others have short-term benefits.
