Too bright and unstable: Panzer Dragoon Remake technical analysis for Nintendo Switch has appeared

This week the publisher Sega released on a hybrid console Nintendo switch remake of the cult rail shooter about dragons from Yukio Futatsugi Panzer dragoonthat demonstrated the graphical capabilities of the console Saturn. However, the updated release turned out to be imperfect.

Later, the game should go on PCbut so far it is a temporary Switch exclusive. But the decisions made by SEGA were criticized. Journalists and players point out not the most convenient management and a radical change in the visual component.

If the original Panzer dragoon used a rather “dull” and neutral palette, the remake literally sparkles with colors, which is confusing. As a result, gamers sometimes can’t even recognize old locations.

There are also problems with performance. The frame rate is limited to 30 frames, but the console cannot always provide stable operation – especially in cutscenes (drawdowns up to 17 frames per second). As for the resolution, in stationary mode it is 1728×972 pixels (the interface is drawn in 1920×1080), and in portable mode it is 1152×648 (1280×720).
