Three graphics modes and 120 FPS: Overwatch optimized with a patch for Xbox Series X | S

Shooter developers Overwatch released a new major update 1.58 for the game. The update affects all platforms and, among other changes, to console owners Xbox Series X | S several special improvements have been prepared in it. In particular, we are talking about the added “Preferred Mode” parameter, which allows you to switch between three different graphics presets

  • Resolution mode prioritizes resolution over graphics quality, offering 4K / 60 FPS on the Series X and 1440p / 60 FPS on the Series S;
  • Balanced mode prioritizes graphics quality over resolution, offering 1440p / 60 FPS on Series X and 1080p / 60 FPS on Series S;
  • Frame Rate prioritizes higher frame rates over graphics and resolution, offering 1440p / 120 FPS on Series X and 1080p / 120 FPS on Series S.

At the moment, Overwatch has not received a similar update for Playstation 5 and still works in the only available mode 1080p with speed 60 FPS, How on PS4 Pro… In 4K, only the interface is rendered.

Earlier it was reported that due to the way backward compatibility works on the new Sony console, developers need to actually create a full-fledged port to add 120 FPS, while on the Xbox Series, a simple patch is enough for this.
