After by IGN, The Verge and GameSpot opportunity to get to know Nintendo Switch OLED received the editor-in-chief of the publication Video Games Chronicle Andy Robinson… He praised the new model of the hybrid platform, noting that it is primarily suitable for users who spend a lot of time playing games in portable mode.
Robinson said the difference between the old Switch model and the new one is “just colossal” – the 7-inch OLED display allows for a completely different look at familiar games.
“The OLED display is a huge improvement. As with OLED TVs, the new Switch’s screen explodes in color and deep blacks. If you compare it directly to the old model, we have a quantum leap in front of us. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild looks very clear as if it were an improved PC port, and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is a color feast where it is now much easier to distinguish between different objects and other participants in the race“, says the VGC article.
Robinson writes that the Switch OLED model is superior to the old system in everything – if you play exclusively in handheld mode, then you should definitely think about an upgrade, since the difference will be noticeable instantly.
“In Super Mario Odyssey, you can now see a lot more detail, especially on the water and grass, whereas on the old screen the game looks completely faded. If you look at the screens alone, there can be no two opinions: if you prefer to play handheld then after you try the OLED screen you will want to put the old Switch aside forever“.
VGC’s editor-in-chief also praised the overall design of the Nintendo Switch OLED, calling it “stricter” than the base design. The bezels around the display are much smaller and the dock doesn’t feel like a cheap piece of plastic.
