Late last year, a Chinese electronics manufacturer Huawei sold his mobile division Honor… The company wanted to “guarantee” the brand’s survival after the US sanctions against its own business. The move has allowed Honor to partner with firms such as Qualcomm and Intelas well as sourcing chips and other critical components for smartphones, laptops, and wearables. However, now Honor is also having problems.
According to The Washington Post, last week, officials from four US federal agencies voted to put Honor on the Commerce Department’s blacklist. A positive decision will prevent Honor from working with American companies.
Journalists report that the number of votes has been split. Representatives from the Pentagon and the Department of Energy voted to include the company on the list, while their counterparts from the Department of Commerce and the State Department voted against.
The matter has reached a dead end, and now officials will have to think about what to do about it. If they cannot agree, then President Joe Biden will ultimately take over the problem.
