Warner Bros. postponed the western release of the new film adaptation Mortal kombat for a week – there the tape will be released not on April 16, but on April 23. In the Russian box office, the date is still old – April 8.
Some have suggested that in this way the studio wants to provide Godzilla vs. Kong additional rental period, since the picture shows itself in cinemas very successfully.
However, viewers noticedthat such a decision may have an additional reason. Since the tape, like other studio premieres this year, is out on HBO Max, the transfer may be related to a subscription to the service.
Many users subscribed to HBO Max to watch Justice League Zach Snyder, which was released on March 18. Thus, the monthly subscription of these people got and Godzilla vs. Kong, whose release in the United States was scheduled for today, March 31st.
And if Mortal Kombat stayed on its old date, then viewers could see this premiere for the price of one month’s subscription. However, due to the shift in the date, the tape no longer falls into this “window” – and those who wanted to watch it at home on the official site will have to pay again.
Also, the studio Sony postponed the premiere of the sequel “Venoma” for a week – now the film will be released on September 24th.
