Microsoft made a lot of mistakes while cooking Xbox one to launch, Spencer admitted. The current team tried to take them into account when creating the Xbox Series X. The new console will be promoted primarily as a powerful gaming device with unique gaming services and interesting games.
Phil Spencer also mentioned the price as a critical element for the success of the console, recalling that in this regard the Xbox One was less attractive against the background Playstation 4. First of all, the cost, not the game line, was crucial at the start. In the first year or two, the competitor did not have a big advantage in games, Spencer believes.
“The price usually plays a critical role. Games are, of course, important. But let’s look at the beginning of the current generation, for the first two years. Of course, everyone has their own tastes, but I don’t think that there was a dramatic difference in games.”
Western users believe that Spencer’s comment may indicate Microsoft’s desire to set the cost of the Xbox Series X at the price level of the PlayStation 5 – even if it means that it will have to sell the console at a loss longer than usual. Earlier, Phil Spencer said that his team was personally supported by the head of the corporation, Satya Nadella and financial director Amy Hood.
It is also possible that the Xbox Series X will cost more than the PlayStation 5, but the difference will be less than the psychological mark of $ 100, observers say.
IGN editors praised Spencer for his efforts and noted that Microsoft has recently come with great confidence in the Xbox Series X. Journalists think that now she is doing everything right – all that can be done is to surprise games from internal studios.
Spencer was also shown the results of a recent vote on the IGN website.where the PlayStation 5 defeated the Xbox Series X. 43.3% of respondents plan to buy a new Sony prefix, 25.7% plan the Microsoft system. Another 12% are going to acquire both.

Speaking about the conversation and the outbreak of the global crisis associated with the coronavirus pandemic, Spencer indicated that people began to play more. Sales of consoles and subscriptions to the Xbox Game Pass are growing. At the same time, there is a negative train – the number of unemployed is rapidly increasing, which, as Satya Nadella said recently, makes you wonder how popular the consoles of the new generation will be at the time of launch.
