The Legend of Dante of Tsushima: Biomutant Review

Non-linearity also manifests itself in the choice of weapons and equipment. Equipment can not only be changed – having found a new gun, it can be completely remade for yourself. By adjusting the handle or blade on the sword, the player can turn the piercing-cutting into a club, and the gun into a shotgun. By hanging attachments, you can make your Frankenstein monster heavier, thereby increasing damage, or increase accuracy and reload speed when it comes to firearms. The most effective, of course, is to replace the base, equipping the means of destruction with the ability to set fire, shock or freeze enemies.

The authors separately emphasize that the ammunition does not wear out, and you can use your favorite gun at least the whole game. Moreover, a thing that is weak in damage can be enhanced by increasing its rarity level and material quality. Unlike body kits, for this you need to find special workbenches on the ground – one for weapons, the other for equipment.

Do not forget that Biomutant is a role-playing game, which means that the hero is also allowed to be pumped and strengthened with magic and other abilities. Having accumulated a sufficient number of psi points, users will be able to endow the protagonist with the capabilities of Jesse from Control, namely levitation and telekinesis. Fireballs are also available, as well as a bottomless black hole that opens after a long pumping.

Immediately after the title screen, players are offered a choice of six races, differing in the characteristics of agility, intelligence, strength and others. Users can collect a kind of tank or raise a magician and even a dodger. The most curious subject for the initial choice is the charismatic hero who gains the upper hand in the negotiations.

Interestingly, the parameters affect the appearance. By pumping out power in the menu, users will make the hero broad-shouldered, intelligence will increase the head, and agility will increase the limbs. But you should be more careful when choosing a class, because this is how the character gains the initial ability to wear two blades or hit the enemy with magic, increase damage from ranged attacks or withstand more injuries in melee.

Fans of the crying devil will love the option of a huge cleaver and two pistols in the arsenal, shooters – a commando with an assault rifle, and exotic lovers – a defender with an umbrella as a weapon. The developers who pre-ordered the product are presenting the developers with an additional, sixth, class capable of carrying two swords at the same time.

The combat system in Biomutant is rather sluggish and does not compare in speed with Devil may cry, but she doesn’t need it. The main thing in the game is, undoubtedly, the element of research. The mutant’s world is not just big, it is huge. And it’s not so much the scale as its fullness. In every village that the hero decides to visit, local residents will take him into circulation and strain him with his own heap of problems. Almost everyone you meet is in a hurry to present with a quest, a riddle, a point on the map or a grumpy dialogue. Sellers, of whom there is not one, but three or four in the village, strive to sell stale goods, declaring that they have “the best, and there is no other such thing to be found.”

Unfortunately, the buying and selling process in the game is not satisfactory. Firstly, the icon of the equipped item (which was introduced into the game with the second patch) “floats”, introducing confusion into the inventory. Unknowingly, you can sell used equipment, because the game in no way warns about this. Fortunately, the overalls of protection against biostants and other plot-important or critically significant items are blocked and cannot be sold. It is also unclear how to buy parts for weapons, because the characteristics indicated in the store cannot be compared with those used. This is the main and perhaps the most annoying of the game’s flaws.

The second problem is the radar, or rather its complete absence when searching. You see, our mutant enters the ruined city, and he is given a full list of what can be found in the ruins. And then you can turn around as you want: look around every corner, look under every stone, open every oven and examine every trash can – perhaps luck will turn to face you, or you may have to spend half an hour of real time on research.

Despite this, Biomutant’s pioneering spirit keeps you coming back to the game again and again. The feeling of exploring a limitless world can only be compared with Ghost of tsushima, although the latter has a cut better graphics. No one knows why Experiment 101 decided not to pursue technological progress, using Unreal Engine solely to create a seamless world. Yes, the effects of thunderstorms and raindrops flowing into puddles on wet asphalt remind of a modern engine, but the overall picture refers to the generation two before last: the detail and quality of textures do not stand up to criticism, plus all this is smeared with poisonous flowers and cartoon flashes “Bams! ” on impact (which, by the way, can be turned off).
