Studio RareBird Games, known for an unusual design Sinfeld remastered, announced a new game, and it is no less unusual. The theme The Last Video Store have become long-forgotten video rental stores, so popular until the early 1990s, but disappeared into oblivion with the VHS era.
The creators of The Last Video Store promise that we can visit the last store of a bygone era, chat with other regulars, admire posters and read synopsis of old VHS movies. We can even take a cassette and watch a movie in a specially equipped living room.
The developers promise some kind of survival mode, in which you will have to pay for all the pleasures – accordingly, you will have to somehow get money. But it is not yet fully understood what the game will be and how copyrights on old films will affect it. But even as a museum of the VHS era, it can be interesting.
The Last Video Store is coming “soon” on PlayStation VR. The creators should tell more details in the near future.
