The Last of Us: Part II sank, but stayed on top – what British gamers bought last week

Following the results of last week, we witnessed a very unusual sales chart in British retail, where even a game for the “old woman” Nintendo 3DS leaked. This was reported by the publication. GamesIndustry.biz.

Unsurprisingly, PS4-exclusive held the leadership position in the reporting week The Last of Us Part 2. Studio Creation Sales Naughty dog dipped quite significantly (-80%), which, however, is not uncommon for games that diverge in record runs in the release week. The second The Last of Us at the start eclipsed the debut Uncharted 4.

For comparison, at one time sales of the last game from the series of adventures of Nathan Drake during the second week fell by 78%. Separately, it is worth noting that in this case we are only talking about boxed versions. Do not forget that since 2016 the share of digital downloads has grown significantly.

For series “One of us” the recent release was not the only participant in the top 10. On the ninth line, an updated version of the original game took off The Last of Us: Remastered (+ 82%).

Now let’s move on to the amazing second position of the chart, where the RPG from Square Enix, called Bravely Second: End Layer for the 3DS console. In the reporting week, this game managed to disperse in circulation, which was three times higher than its starting segment in February 2016.

This is due to the next generous sale of the British retailer Argos, where they offered to buy the game at a price of 2.5 pounds for a standard edition and 4 pounds for a limited one. As a result, the store sold as many as 12 to 15 thousand copies of Bravely Second over the past week – such huge deposits have remained in its warehouses since 2016.

Argos’ discount price tags also helped several more 3DS projects reappear in the TOP-40. Among them: life simulator Teddy together (# 32), action-packed RPG Little battlers experience (# 33) and Metroid: Samus Returns (# 28).

The most popular new release in the UK in the reporting week was a remake of the popular platform game from 2003 about the adventures of SpongeBob and his friends – Spongebob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom – Rehydrated. The THQ Nordic project started in third place.

Another debutant of the chart was a racing simulator. Assetto Corsa Competizione (# 12), which made it to the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles.

Short-term sales of a life simulator taking off from the TOP-10 Animal Crossing: New Horizons jumped immediately by 74%, which allowed the acclaimed Nintendo Switch exclusive to climb to fifth place. Three-week fitness adventure position two Ring fit adventure in the new chart settled in fourth place.
