Streaming service administration Twitch began to punish streamers who were convicted of sexual harassment with banas. In addition, the platform tightened the rules and introduced new penalties for “hateful behavior.”
Last week, dozens of Twitch streamers were charged with sexual harassment and abuse of other members of the gaming community. Among them are such service stars as SayNoToRage and Tom “Syndicate” Kassel.
On June 21, the Twitch administration issued a statement saying it was working to make the platform “more secure for everyone.”
A few days later, Twitch moderators turned from words to action, starting to block the channels of streamers accused of harassment. One of the fell under the distribution was an Australian gamer Brad “Blessrng” Jolly. Moreover, the emoji dedicated to him was also removed from the platform with him.
“We’re looking at every known case [домогательств]while ensuring due diligence as we diligently evaluate these serious allegations, “Twitch said in a statement.” We have prioritized the most serious cases and immediately suspend accounts in accordance with our findings. “
Since many situations of harassment occurred not on Twitch, but outside it, the platform needs time to sort out the situation and get evidence. In this case, the suspect’s account can be suspended indefinitely, and if the guilt is proved, the streamer can forever lose access to your account. If the administration becomes aware of flagrant cases of violence, it is ready to report them to the police.
Twitch has also expanded the list of banned nicknames and words that may seem offensive to the audience.

Currently, five well-known Twitch streamers have fallen under the wave of bans, but this is obviously just the beginning.
