Streaming service Netflix ordered the production of the first series for Russia called “Anna K.”… It will be an adaptation of Leo Tolstoy’s novel Anna Karenina. Svetlana Khodchenkova will play the main role.
Events will unfold in modern Russia. According to the plot, a socialite and the wife of the future governor of St. Petersburg, Anna Karenina, has an affair with the heir to the aluminum empire, Vronsky. However, relationships quickly spiral out of control and threaten the social status of the heroes.
The production of the series will be handled by the studio 1-2-3 Production… The directors and producers will be the creators of Dyatlov Pass, Valery Fedorovich and Yevgeny Nikishov, and the scriptwriters will be Roman Kantor (Epidemic, Silver Skates) and Maria Mikulina.
The release date of the series is not yet known.
Previously Kommersant reported that the second Netflix series for Russia will be a dramatic story about the 90s from the Russkoye company. The service is also negotiating with the studios “Hydrogen”, “Sreda”, Star Media and Yellow, Black & White.
