The first paid DLC for MechWarrior 5 was postponed, but expanded – review

Piranha games announced that the first paid DLC for MechWarrior 5: Mercenariesmost likely will not be released in the first half of this year. The developers reported about the transfer one and a half weeks ago, but the media drew attention to this only now.

Addition Heroes of the Inner Sphere announced at the end of January. Initially, the release was scheduled for April, but the authors continued to add new content, so they moved the DLC to June. Soon after, Piranha Games plans were disrupted by the coronavirus pandemic, which led to the need to work from home.

At the same time, the developers note that they intend to compensate for the delay with additional content. In Heroes of the Inner Sphere, players are waiting for a new “Career” mode, 5 types of work, missions, quests, 7 heroes and their unique mechs, new options for the existing chassis, equipment, weapons and much more.

In addition to the paid add-on, MechWarrior 5 will also receive a free update, however, the authors will share its details later. So far, developers are not ready to name a new release date for Heroes of the Inner Sphere, but intend to share their plans closer to summer.
