In conversation with investors, Senior Vice President of Business Development CD Projekt Michal Novakowski confirmed that in general the team is feeling pretty confident and is about to release Cyberpunk 2077 on the appointed date in September this year.
“We do not observe any serious (…) risks associated with the launch, which may interfere with us or stop the release of the game in any way in September,” he said.
However, remote work from home and the closure of a recording studio delayed localization work.
“There are some difficulties with the localization process, especially with the recording of the voices of some actors,” says Novakovsky. “Most studios are closed now, at least for a while.”
“Nevertheless, we were able to record the overwhelming majority of the voiceover, however, several small scenes remained. We are not very worried about this because we can record them later and add them to the game using the patch. When users buy the game in September, they simply upload a file that adds the missing pieces of records, but now this process is causing some inconvenience. “
The top manager believes that this is the only thing that will cause difficulties, they have already overcome the remaining difficulties and the work is going smoothly. The team has to settle a lot of little things to completely complete the game. Novakovsky dwelt in detail on what remained to be done to finish the game.
“We need to send the game for certification to platform owners, and then go in for the patch of the first day, containing various corrections and improvements, so that it is ready at the time the game starts.”
At the moment, the game is in finished form, says Novakovsky, it is ready, all that remains for the developers is to fix the errors and polish it properly.
Physical copies were sent to print and some discs have already been produced in factories. The team of testers engaged in the game currently numbers 130-150 people.
Cyberpunk 2077 managed to issue age ratings. ESRB and PEGI have reviewed content that will not change. The Japanese agency CERO, which closed before May 6 in connection with the coronavirus pandemic, managed to finish reviewing the game.
Yesterday, the president of CD Projekt Adam Kichinsky spoke about the post-release support of Cyberpunk 2077. According to him, “no fewer additions” are planned for the game to be released than for “The Witcher 3”.
Cyberpunk 2077 will be released on PS4, Xbox One and PC on September 17, 2023.
