The creators of The Sinking City are confident that they are selling a pirated version of the game on Steam

Developers The sinking city of Frogwares published an appeal to the public after the publisher Nacon resumed sales of the game on Steam with a big discount.
For starters, just a couple of hours ago, Nacon announced that it had returned the project on sale “for the sake of the fans.” There are no problems with this version. It is “completely official and complete”, although due to the dispute with the authors, some features like cloud saves and achievements are missing.

At the same time, the publisher noted that he had fulfilled his part of the agreement, “paid the studio millions of euros” and spent a lot of his resources on promoting the project. And “pretending to be a victim is easy.”

Frogwares released a revealing video shortly thereafter. His key thesis is that Nacon sells a pirated version of the game on Steam. Some of the publisher’s employees cracked the code and modified it, removing from it, for example, references to other Frogwares games.

According to the developers, Nacon bought The Sinking City on the website GamesPlanet, for which Frogwares made a special version of the game and modified it – and then did not even change the access keys, thanks to which Frogwares opened the archives and found out all the necessary information.

In addition, the developers note that all content released after the release of the game was made entirely with funds from Frogwares and was not part of the contract with Nacon. And now the publisher is selling it, although it has no right to do so.

Frogwares says it will take all files to court. In France, piracy is treated particularly harshly.
