The creators of Pokemon GO and Nintendo announced a partnership – an AR project in the Pikmin universe is in development

Studio Nianticknown for creating Pokemon go, announced a strategic partnership with the company Nintendo, within which the parties will develop and release a series of game applications for mobile devices with famous characters from popular platform-holder franchises. All projects will be tied to augmented reality (AR) technology.

The first app is being developed by Japanese studio Niantic, which started in Tokyo about three years ago. It is based on a franchise Pikmin and is designed to help people diversify outdoor walks… Pickmins will settle in the real world, and gameplay activities will have to encourage users to walk more. At the same time, the authors emphasize that they are cooking not a Pokemon GO clone – projects are very different… However, they have only one development manager – Tatsuo Nomura

They promise to share the details later. Pre-registration for an unnamed game can be played on the official website

The announcement also says that in terms of gameplay, mobile Pickmins have nothing to do with traditional console strategies.
